Zonian Girls…

…And the Echoes That Surround Us All.

Now based in Atlanta, Austin and Barcelona, but originally formed in Athens, Ga. and part of Kindercore Records (Of Montreal, Olivia Tremor Control, Kings of Convenience), King of Prussia is an indie folk pop band often compared to acts like Belle & Sebastian, Teenage Fanclub, David Bowie and The Pernice Brothers. The band, which has received favorable press from the likes of NPR, Pitchfork, Magnet, Paste, Under the Radar, Delusions of Adequacy, Consequence of Sound and My Old Kentucky Blog, has recently finished the recording of their third and fourth full-length albums, Zonian Girls...And the Echoes That Surround Us All.

King of Prussia has completed several tours of the U.S. (including a March 2013 East Coast tour, CMJ and SXSX), played shows throughout Europe and charted on numerous college radio stations. Two of the band’s members also starred in a related music documentary called Poster Boys-or-The Art of Mobile Recording, which screened at two international film festivals and an arts festival in Chicago this year. Two King of Prussia songs will be featured in the 2014 movie Chu & Blossom, starring Annie Potts and Alan Cumming.

Brandon Hanick wrote the 20 songs for the new double album over three years while playing music and teaching English in Barcelona, Spain, and the band recordedZGATETSUA in Bordeaux, France, Barcelona, and Athens, Ga. The album features contributions from over 20 musicians from different lands, including Mike Mills (R.E.M., Hindu Love Gods), who played piano on "I’ll Dance With You." It’s not intended to be a concept alb., but the songs somehow divided themselves into two distinct but related halves representing the lighter and darker sides of the human psyche. The album was mixed at The Glow Studio in Athens, Ga. with long-time friend and producer Jesse Mangum (Elf Power, Black Kids, Darnell Boys).

King of Prussia will release Zonian Girls...And the Echoes That Surround Us All in Spring 2014 and if history is any indication, the record will be very well received by critics, radio and fans alike. The U.S. tour with friends Case Conrad will serve to support both critically acclaimed bands’ new albums.

Swedish band Case Conrad’s new album LEIKKO brings together the talents of Gustav Haggren (Gustav and the Seasick Sailors), Robert Johansson (Tarantula Waltz) and Per Henrik Adolfsson (The Last of the Julian Line), Vasco Batista (Big Summer, King of Prussia) and Petter Bengtsson (Shooting John) for the first time. This remarkable collaboration sees these artists reach new heights in their creativity.

LEIKKO features the catchy rhythms and clever pop hooks of previous album DEW POINT, but possesses hints of stadium greatness with its poppy echoing drumbeats, dreamy synth sounds and Robert Johansson’s guitar which provide a distinctive backdrop of desert surf psychedelia.

After a one year long tour in Europe and USA 2010/2011 when the also recorded Daytrotter Sessions, the Swedes emigrated to Barcelona, Spain to record their new album. Recording took over a year in ten different locations. It was finally sent to Cristoffer Roth at Dubious Studios (The Concretes, Moneybrother) for mixing.

The songs featured on the album describes the locations and the people that the band met during their DIY-tours in USA and Europe after the release of their debut album: from copper thieves of New York to the poets of New Orleans, from bonfires in Louisiana to houseboats in Hamburg.

One of the album’s unique features is the fact that there are not one but two lead vocalists, with an effective contrast of Haggren’s reverberating falsetto tones with Adolfsson’s lower-pitched whispering sound.

Gustav Haggren has been on several tours in USA through the years, been featured on compilations with bands such as The Be Good Tanyas and Fleet Foxes
